Guide: New to Private Servers

If you're feeling lost and confused, don't worry. I hope this will help anyone just coming out of mainstream MapleStory. So if you're very new to the whole private server idea, stick around. If not, this guide will not be helpful to you at all.

First of all, welcome to SeqouiaStory!

What is a private server?

A MapleStory private server is a server hosted by a normal person like you or me! Basically, when they make the server, they re-direct people's computers from connecting to the real MapleStory in order to connect to their own host. This means that when you log in to play SeqouiaStory, you will be playing a game completely separated from mainstream MapleStory.

What's different in a private server, that isn't in real MapleStory?

In a private server, like SeqouiaStory, anything in the game can be changed. In this case, the experience levels, meso drop levels, and item drop rates are changed as well as many other things. This makes the game a little easier and even more fun to some people. In SeqouiaStory, the experience rate is 1000, this means any monster's experience that you received in real MapleStory is now multiplied by 1000. An example would be that if you originally got 8 exp from red snails, it is now 8000. Because of this fast leveling, you can get to level 200 fairly quickly. This is where the feature called Rebirth comes into play.

What is a Rebirth?

A rebirth is something that you can do once you reach level 200. A rebirth will allow a player to reset their levels to 1 while keeping all of their earned AP, and any skills that are left on the hotkeys, which I will explain later. Because of the rebirth feature in private servers, with 120 rebirths, you can obtain 30,000 of each stat (str, dex, int, and luk). With this, you can do so much more damage to quickly kill boss monsters and have even more fun!

So how do I save skills when I Rebirth?

When you rebirth, the skills, potions, and other hotkey items are not removed from your hotkeys (press \ to show). By placing usable skills from your current job onto your hotkeys, then rebirthing, you can save those skills to use with DIFFERENT jobs. A perfect example is someone may start off as a fighter/hero, hotkey the Combo Attack skill, rebirth and become an assassin/night lord, and use the Combo Attack skill to do even more damage with the throwing stars! :] This makes private servers even more fun an exciting, and well worth getting several rebirths.

Are there any GMs on a private server?

Yes, just like in real MapleStory the admin for SeqouiaStory haveGMs, who are also normal players like you and me, to do the job. GMs are responsible for helping players, hosting events, and upholding justice! Though never beg a GM for items, because they’re not allowed to distribute items, unless in the case of an event, just like the GMs in real MapleStory.

If its a unvalid name test with big letters in the S´s xD.

step 1) download MS v55
step 2) download the client
step 3) put the client into the MS v55 folder
step 4) download and run hamachi
step 5) click on SequoiaStory-file that you put in the ms v55 folder
step 6) it works // its auto register:P

you need to have hamachi open while trying to open MS and as I can see your not on hamachi lol.

Hm, that might be the issue however i am in a "sequoiastory 1" Channel thingy..

when trying to connect to hamachi it says that 'Sequoiastory' doesn't exist as a network so i tried 'Sequoiastory 1' and it says it's full. what should i do?
